The game’s distinguishing feature is its vast, interconnected, non-linear game world, which rewards exploration and creative thinking. The game quickly heats up as Shredder, Tiger Claw and a new army of mutants threaten the streets of New York, forcing Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo to take action into their own hands. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze is due to launch on the Nintendo 3DS, as well as last generation consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. You can check out the official word from Activision in the press release below. The game will also feature all four turtles – Raphael, Leonardo, Michaelangelo and Donatello – where they can be freely swapped out at the player’s whim.

Developed by Shantae creator WayForward, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze will focus on speedy 2D combat in a “vast, interconnected, non-linear game world” and feature the 3D art direction seen in the animation.

The new side-scrolling action title will bridge the gap between the second and third seasons of the animation which currently airs on Nickelodeon. Activision has announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is on the way for the Nintendo 3DS.
